Oh Hello Sunshine, Where Have You Been?

I was actually amazed that we had such a hot and sunny bank holiday last weekend, but that joy was short lived as it looks like England is back to it's cold windy self.  Anyhow, I was happy to be able to get my milk bottle legs out for a couple of days at least, needless to say there is still no hint of a tan on them.  Here's what I wore for lunch and a few cheeky drinks in the beer garden with family.

As you can see another reason I was happy to see the sun was that I could finally get my beloved Ray Ban Wayfarers out, which have been hibernating in their case since I got them at Christmas! They have seen the light of day a few times but it wasn't until last weekend that I really got to wear them properly.  When I picked them out I um-ed and ah-ed over whether to get Wayfarers or Aviators for ages.  I finally decided that the Wayfarers suited my little old face better, and wanting something slightly different from the classic black, I opted for this tortoiseshell pair.

Which do you prefer? Wayfarers or Aviators?

Met Ball Magic

If there's one red carpet that I await with baited breathe each year, it's the Met Ball's.  It is one of the most extravagant red carpets and a nod towards fashion's finest.  After hearing that the theme of this year's exhibition is Punk: Chaos to Couture I couldn't wait to see how the celebs incorporated this theme into their dresses, as I like to think of myself as more of a punk princess than a Cinderella.  There was a real mix of styles with some going all out punk and others keeping it pretty simple.

Here are my favourites...

Model of the moment Cara Delevigne looked gorgeous in a deep v, body skimming, studded black dress by Burberry.  The studs and her dagger necklace add the perfect amount of punk.

Also wearing Burberry on the red carpet was Sienna Miller, who I've never looked toward style wise, but I actually love the look of her white floor length gown with a heavily studded leather jacket and spiked hairband.

Now I know Rooney Mara's gorgeous Givenchy gown isn't exactly punk but I have to admit that I think it was actually one of my favourites of the night.  To say the theme was punk I expected Rooney to channel a touch of her character Lisbeth of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, so was a little surprised to see her head to toe in delicate white lace.  The detailing of this dress is too beautiful not to love though and I suppose she did add a touch of punk with her dark lips.

Again, not really punk, but I love Nicole Richie repping the high street at the Met Ball in this gorgeous Topshop Couture dress.  Not really sure about the hair though, I find it more horror than punk.

And finally, not exactly the best dressed, but kudos to Madonna to actually dressing for the theme who went all out in ripped netting, tartan, studs and chains...

Who do you think was best dressed on the red carpet of the Met Ball?

May Day

Shirt - Asos
Vest - Matalan
Suede Leggings - Primark

Can you believe that it is May already?  This year seems to be passing me by so quickly and I am still undecided as to whether this is good or bad.  On the one hand it means I have had lots of nice things happening so the days are not dragging but on the other I feel like I am losing precious time.  This may sound a little silly but a couple of weeks ago I celebrated my birthday and turning twenty six, and as I move further away from the memories of my teenage years and head towards thirty, I seem to be having a mini mid-life crisis.  At eighteen, twenty six seemed so far away and I never really thought seriously about what I would be doing when I was at that age but I didn't think I would be here, I thought I would have my own house and a fledgling career.  As happy as I am with my life right now, I do wish I had a pause button so I could take some time out and figure out how to get to where I want to be in life without the time passing so quickly.  Hopefully this is just a fleeting feeling brought on by acknowledging that I am another year older, because let's face it who actually likes the idea of getting older?  Especially when you feel like you still have everything left to figure out.

Hopefully these sunnier days will bring with them a sunnier and less contemplative mood.

Welcome To eFoxcity

eFoxcity

If, like me, you love a good bargain then eFoxcity is the site for you.  I only very recently discovered the China based online retailer and I was very impressed with their range of clothing, mainly consisting of women's clothing, cheap homecoming dresses and prom dresses, and with prom season fast approaching if you need a dress eFoxcity is definitely worth a browse.  They have a gorgeous selection at a fraction of the price of your average prom dress.

The main thing about this site that caught my eye is the prices.  They just scream "Bargain!" at me, with many of the women's clothing pieces costing a mere £10 or less.  For example, the little white lace mini dress I have picked out above is a bargainous £7.62 and the pretty little collar necklace will only set you back the tiny amount of £3.53.  What's not to love?

Where Has Time Gone?

I actually could not believe my eyes when I saw that my last post was in February... February!!  I know we put the clocks forward for daylight saving a few weeks ago, but I appear to have lost two months not just an hour!  I just don't know where the time has gone and I have missed the blogosphere so much that I am determined to be more organised and even try my hand at scheduling posts.  I'm hoping that I'm not so technically challenged that it will be a complete disaster.

So, I thought I'd kickstart my return to blogging with a little outfit post of what I wore for a meal at the weekend.  I've been really struggling with shopping lately, which is probably not a bad thing for my purse with the way I like to spend, but I'm hoping now the weather is starting to warm up all the summer collections lining the shop rails will seem a bit more enticing.  I did however go on a little shopping trip after my birthday last week and picked up this bargain of a dress for £12...

Black Crochet

Dress - Topshop
Boots - Matalan

Firstly I would like to apologise for the poor lighting in these photos.  It is such a struggle to take decent outfit photos one these horrible dull days.  Anyway, this is one of the dresses I got out of the Topshop sale after Christmas and it was only £15.  You can't really tell that well in the picture, thanks to the bad lighting, but the dress has a lovely thick dark aubergine slip.  It looks lovely under the black crochet overlay and really helps keep me warm.  As much as a crocheted dress can keep you warm in the winter anyway.  I also love the bell sleeves on this dress and think I'll be getting a fair bit of wear out of this dress.  I decided to wear this dress with my little purple velvet chelsea boots, which I haven't worn nearly as much as I would've liked since I bought them.  I guess I didn't really think about the practicality of velvet in the winter rain and snow.  I still love them though.

Hope you have a great weekend :)

Mini Accessorize Sale Haul

It has just occured to me, after recieving a nice little Topshop parcel yesterday, that I haven't actually shared any of my sale shopping with you.  To be honest, I am trying to save money for more "sensible" things so I haven't actually done that much shopping recently apart from this little accessory haul and a couple of naughty Topshop orders.

Here is what I picked up out of the Accessorize sale a couple of weeks ago...

Necklace - £14 reduced to £7

Earrings - £9 reduced to £4.50

Earrings - £6 reduced to £3
