I'm all about a bargain me, and when it comes to budget beauty products MUA is one of my firm favourites. The quality of their products for the price is just amazing and they have yet to let me down when it comes to their products. As much as I'd love to have a beauty bag full of fancy high end products I am reluctant to splurge on something that I may be able to only use once or twice. I have very sensitive and dry skin and have found myself digging deep into my pockets to afford the best thinking they'll work wonders on my skin, it costs a fortune so they have to right?! Wrong!! Don't get me wrong there are some wonderful high end products out there but you can spend a lot of money trying to find the right one for you. So, when it comes to trying new products, especially on my face, I tend to lean towards budget beauty products then it's really no big loss if I don't like them or they don't suit my skin. So when I was looking for a new primer to try my first port of call was MUA and thought I'd give this Illuminating Liquid Glow highlighter a whirl as well.
First of all we have the Primer, which I have no complaints about whatsoever, especially for the price. I had previously been using Rimmel's Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser and although it probably works great for oily skin, I found it used to dry my skin out once I started applying my make up. This one however has a similar effect and feel but doesn't seem to dry my skin out. It comes in a pump style plastic bottle which is simple and clean, and a couple of small pumps supplies you with enough product to cover your face. The primer itself has a thick gel consistency and glides beautifully over the skin. It makes my skin feel silky smooth and does a great job at minimising pores. It really helps me to apply my foundation smoothly and evenly and I have definitely found my make up stays in place a lot longer when I have used this primer.
As I have quite dry and dull skin I'm always trying out new highlighting products to try and achieve that natural looking glowing complexion that I wish I naturally had. This liquid glow comes in 3 shades; Pink Shimmer, Oyster and Champagne. I decided to go for Champagne as it has a really nice natural golden glow to it. As it has a nice natural undertone to it, this makes it perfect for adding a little to your foundation for an all over dewy glow, which is what I tend to do when I haven't got much time to spend on my make up. However, when I have got a little more time for contouring I like to dot this along my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and forehead and blend it out for a subtle highlight. It blends out really nicely and as it is a creamy highlighter it doesn't dry my skin out the way powder highlighters do. I really like this product as it is so versatile and a little goes a long way, so I can see this lasting me for a while yet.
Have you tried either of these products before? Which are your favourite MUA products?
