For me the trench coat is the perfect coat for the transition from summer to autumn, where it's not quite warm enough to go out without a coat but not cold enough for a big winter coat.  This trench from H&M is the perfect coat to keep off that autumn chill without turning you into a sweaty mess when you have to walk for more than ten minutes.  Its so nice and lightweight and I like the slightly oversized relaxed look compared to more fitted trench coats.  I also love the material, it has a soft silky feel to it, the only problem is that it creases so easily.  I also can't wait to start layering this over polo necks or wearing it with a nice big blanket scarf when it gets cooler.

Hydra Temptation Lipstick (Shade #8) - £2.45*

This lipstick from Bornpretty promises to be both moisturising and long lasting.  Both major selling points for me as I'm always looking for products that won't dry my lips out and I'm not really one for reapplying my lipstick every five minutes.

Most of my lipstick collection is made up of difference shades of red and coral, so I decided to be brave and give one of the brighter pink shades a try.  When I took the lid off and saw the Barbie Pink staring me in the face, I thought I'll never be able to pull this one off!  However once I applied it to my lips it was a lot sheerer than I was expecting and didn't look quite as bright, it has more of a lip gloss feel to it once applied but without the stickiness.  Another bonus to me as I love how moisturising lip glosses are but I rarely tend to use them as I don't like how sticky they feel.  The only downside to this lipstick is that it is very soft, which I am assuming is down to the formula which makes it so moisturising, so you have to be very careful when applying it as it does feel like the lipstick itself is about to snap off.  I would probably say it's best to apply this lipstick with a lip brush just to be on the safe side.  For £2.45 though I'd be amazed if it was absolutely perfect and it's something I'm willing to overlook for it's moisturising abilities.  I was also fairly happy with it's staying power, I would say I had it on a good 6-8 hours before I felt the need to reapply.

Following on from my Friday Favourites last week this weeks post is a round up of all my favourites from London Fashion Week.  This one was tough to narrow down as there were a lot of great collections at London Fashion Week but my favourite of them all had to be Temperley.  To say all of these collections are for next summer, Temperley's is the first that has really given me that summer feeling.

I'm sure that if you've been following my blog recently you'll know how much I've been getting fed up of my hair.  It had gotten too long and was in dire need of a boost.  I'd been umm-ing and ahh-ing over the past year whether to get it all chopped off, but I decided recently that was not enough and I was going to get it coloured as well to give it some life back and a bit more oomph!

I decided to go to Inizio as they have a pretty good rep in my town and they'd been recommended to me by several people.  My anxiety already makes things like this hard for me to do, hence why I'd been putting off getting my hair cut for the past two years, but going for such a big change I was a complete bag of nerves when I got to my appointment.  My stylist Adam was great though and made me feel right at ease, and was sure to let me know that if I wasn't happy with it he'd sort it.  It's always a daunting experience when going for such a change... What if the colour isn't right?  What if it doesn't suit me?  What if it's too short?  What if I don't like it?  Adam made me feel so comfortable though that I knew that I didn't have to worry, he made me feel like it wouldn't be awkward for me to say if I felt like something needed fixing.  Being an anxious person making me feel this at ease is something that is important to me in a hair stylist.  Luckily for him, and I suppose me, I was really pleased with the results.  So here is how I went from long and brunette to short and blonde...

I managed to take these photos on a day the sunshine decided to make a rare appearance and judging by how cold it's getting this will be the last time my bare legs will be making an appearance.  As much as I'm looking forward to winter and snuggling up in big jumpers. coats and scarves I'm a little bit gutted that it's time for my summer wardrobe to be packed away, especially as this is the one and only chance I've had to wear this pretty little playsuit.  

Next is not somewhere I tend to shop but my mum loves to check out the Next sale, so I went with her and spotted this playsuit on the rail reduced from £50 to £25.  I love the lacy bardot neckline and how comfy it is to wear.  It is also the perfect day to night piece as it can be worn like this during the day but then dressed up for night with some heels and jewellery or even a little embellished waist belt.  I am hoping to find some way to make it autumn appropriate as I don't really want to have to pack it away to collect dust until next summer just yet.

This post will also be the last post you'll see my hair like this.  I finally took the plunge and took a trip to the hairdressers last week.  I won't say much more as I will be revealing all in my next post, so stay tuned...

As London Fashion Week kicks off I thought I'd do a little round up of my favourite shows and trends seen on the catwalk this past week at New York Fashion week.

There was a real outdoors-y feel to Mara Hoffman's Spring/Summer 16 collection with pieces adorned with flowers, birds and rainbows but my favourite of them all was this cloud print.

I'd never be quite daring enough to wear anything like this but I always love Betsey Johnson shows and designs, they're just so much fun.  This collection was no different with it's rainbow of tutus.

Black and white was a recurring theme on the catwalks at New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 16.  I for one am very happy about this as I could live in monochrome.  I love the relaxed tailoring at Givenchy mixed with pretty feminine lace and Marchesa is always one of my favourites, they're dresses are always so beautiful.

Zimmermann

My top show of all from New York Fashion Week has to be Zimmermann.  I instantly fell in love with the victorian style of their pieces with high necks and lots of frills in pretty florals and lace.  Out of all the collections this was the one I wanted to instantly fill my wardrobe with, starting with that little dusky pink mini dress.

This outfit has been one of my go-to casual looks this summer, especially on chillier days (which there have been plenty of).  When it comes to jeans I tend to stick to black skinnies but I decided I wanted to try something different.  I had been loving the ripped look and wanted to try a more relaxed fit, so when I saw this pair in the Zara sale for £17.99 I decided to give them a try.  I could have perhaps gone a size smaller as they're slightly big around the waist, but not to the point where I feel like they're going to fall down and it's nothing a belt won't fix, and I kind of like the baggy look.  I don't think they'd have the same fit or feel if I had gone a size smaller so I decided to keep them.  The thing I love most about them though is they're just the right length for my short little legs.  I have such a hard time trying to find jeans that I don't have to roll up, which is a dilemma I'm sure most short girls can relate to.  This is the first pair of jeans I have bought from Zara and I will definitely be going back when I go jean shopping in the future, as it is so hard to find a well fitting pair of jeans.

Where if you favourite place to shop for jeans?

I've been feeling a bit bored with my hair lately and I've been crushing on this hairstyle for quite a while now.  The "lob" or "long bob" has been quite popular recently with lots of celebs going for the chop and every time I see it I think 'aw that looks so nice'.  I especially love the choppy textured styles and the nice thing about the lob is that it's still just long enough to put up and play around with different styles with.  So, if you haven't already figured out where I'm going with this post, I've decided to take the plunge and get my long locks cut off into a nice little choppy lob.  I've spent the last two years growing my hair and as much as I love long hair I've grown a bit bored of it and I have to admit it has become a bit of a chore, it takes so long to dry and style.  I'm also hoping a good cut and adding a bit of colour will give my hair a bit more oomph.  So I have an appointment for next week and I am hoping to leave the hairdressers with a smile on my face and hair like this...

What do you think of the "lob"?

In a bid to get happier and healthier I have been eating lots of salads (which I'm sure will be turning into homemade soups soon) and this chickpea and feta salad has become one of my favourites.  I absolutely love Greek Salad but always find I am feeling hungry again not long after so thought I'd try replacing the lettuce with chickpeas for a more balanced and filling meal.  I find chickpeas to be quite filling and they a great source protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals which leaves me with more energy compared to usual salads which can just be full of empty calories.  It is also super quick and easy to make and very tasty.

Serves 2 as a main or 4 as a side.

Ingredients

1 tin of chickpeas, drained and rinsed

2 garlic cloves, crushed

3 spring onions

1 red pepper, diced

Half a cucumber, diced

8 baby plum or cherry tomatoes, quartered

30g feta cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

3 tablespoons lemon juice

Method

1. In a small bowl whisk together the olive oil and lemon juice. Set aside.

2. Place the chickpeas, garlic, spring onions, pepper, cucumber and tomatoes in a large bowl.  Crumble over the feta cheese and give all the ingredients a good stir.

3. Pour over the olive oil and lemon juice mixture and give it a good mix until all the ingredients are covered in the dressing.

As you can see it's super easy and takes hardly any time to make at all.  This is also great for making ahead of time too as the longer it is left the more the flavours come out.  It is also really great and easy to adapt to fit whatever you have in the fridge; you can have olives in it, sometimes I use red onion instead of spring onions or add some sweetcorn to it.  The possibilities are endless.
