Budget Makeup Brushes

17:04

I'd love to say that I have all these wonderful MAC brushes but to be honest if I was a little bit less useless I'd definitely invest in them.  When it comes to makeup brushes though I am an expert at misplacing them, never to be seen again.  I kid you not I can be using it then I'll put it down to grab something else out of my makeup bag and that sneaky little brush fairy will swoop down and take it.  Now I know many of you probably don't believe in fairies and may think that I am talking absolute nonsense, but what else could it be?  The other reason I don't tend to buy expensive brushes is because, and I am ashamed to admit this, I don't clean them as regularly as I should so when I think they're a bit too grubby to try and clean I just throw them out.  So after a little online, I was going to say window shopping but would you call it screen shopping?, anyway I had a look online and saw quite a few people had Fraulein 38 brush sets.  After a little research I found out that it was a German brand which was only set up in 2009 that sells a variety of cosmetics.  I saw no bad reviews of their brushes and after seeing the price I had no reason not to give them a try.  I ended up getting mine off ebay from this seller for £8.96.

The brushes came in a nice soft faux leather case with a flap along the top to protect all the brush heads.  The two larger brushes also came with plastic protectors, which I was happy about as I always keep protectors on my large brushes because I don't like it when the bristles go wild and they get all out of shape.  They also remind me a bit of the Eco Tools brushes with their bamboo look handles.

L-R Foundation Brush, Stippling Brush, Blush Brush, Face Brush

These four brushes are my favourite out of the whole set.  They are so soft and gentle on the skin and they do not shed at all.

L-R Crease Brush, Flat Shadow Brush, Angled Shadow Brush, Small Foundation Brush

My favourite out of these ones is the crease brush, it is perfect for doing just what you can imagine, getting shadow into your eye crease.  The eye shadow brushes are useable but I find them to be a little bit on the thin side, I like my eye brushes just a little bit thicker.

L-R Flat Liner Brush, Thin Liner Brush, Concealer Brush, Mini Crease Brush

The only brush I don't really recommend out of these is the thin liner brush.  Compared to the rest it doesn't seem very good quality and the hairs seem to seperate so it is difficult to get a neat line with it.  I love the mini crease brush as it is the perfect size to highlight your inner tear duct.

All in all I am quite happy with these brushes and I think they are pretty good value for money.  They're never going to be MAC brushes but for the money you pay I would definitely recommend them.
