Barry M Metallic Matte Me Up Lip Kit
17:05
I'd bought one of the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit's in the shade Go To a while ago and was super impressed with the formula and the staying power. Then when I saw that they had released metallic versions of these lip kits I couldn't wait to try them. I don't know why it has taken me so long to review them on here as I absolutely love them and wear them all the time. I was a little unsure whether I'd like the metallic shades or not as I thought they'd look a little too much, but I've found the shades I got them in to be super wearable.
The lip kits come with a lip liner, which has a pretty soft tip making it super easy to apply. I hate lip liners that are too stiff and feel like you have to press on pretty hard to get any kind of colour payoff, making it impossible to get a smooth line. The colour pay off on this lip liner though is just perfect and is a pretty good match to the lip paint too. The lip paint itself, which is my favourite part of the kit, has the most beautiful formula. Sometimes I can find lip paints, especially matte ones, to be super drying on the lips which is a major problem for me as somebody who already has dry lips. I've tried lip paints before that after only half an hour have completely dried my lips out leaving them looking flaky and the colour cracked. The formula of the Barry M lip kits though is really smooth, meaning it glides onto the lips beautifully and, surprisingly for a matte lip paint, doesn't dry them out at all.
I have two shades in the Metallic Lip Kits and intend to get more. However, the shade I find myself reaching for the most is Prestige. I don't really know how to describe this shade, the best way I can explain it is a metallic burnt orange-y red. Haha, not sure that's technically what the colour would be called but that's how it looks to me! The final thing I want to hit on is the staying power; it is incredible!! This lip paint will literally not budge. There is very little transfer when you eat or drink. This may also be a little too much information for some but I just had to share it because I was super impressed. I was recently wearing it when I was out and had a panic attack, which resulted in me being slightly sick. I was amazed when I looked in the mirror in the bathroom to find that my lipstick had not budged. This is not really something I would normally want to share but I just had to because I don't think that there is a better test that a lipstick can be put through to test it's staying power.
The other shade I have this lip kit in is 24 Carat, which is more a of a bronze/gold colour. Which shade do you prefer?
