New York Fashion Week: Day 5

17:32

This has by far been my favourite day of fashion week so far, mainly due to these two shows...

These looks are all from Betsey Johnson's Spring/Summer 2011 runway show, a designer I love because she prides herself on not following or dictating trends. This was a fun show that celebrated the diversity of New York fashion by breaking it down in to different parts of New York City. The first stop was the Brooklyn biker with leotards and fingerless gloves. The next stop the show moved to The Met with more subdued black creations with an added frill. Betsey's tour of New York then moved to Central Park with lots of girly spring florals, before moving to Lower Manhattan where models wore bright dresses with robust skirts. The next stop was Seaport with nautical inspired garments that were accessorised with sailor hats. Then came the final stop, Time Square, where models wore gowns adorned with neon graffiti. I would have killed to have been at this show, it has by far been my favourite so far with Betsey's diverse and fun creations.

These looks are from Marc Jacob's Spring/Summer 2011 runway show, who is taking us back to the seventies for summer. His collection is made up of retro prints, slinky jumpsuits, deep V-necks, gold lamé hot pants and peasant blouses all in muted shades of gold, pink, coral, mauve and copper. The outfits were perfectly accessorised with giant flowers and wide brimmed hats. The whole collection is just to die for.
